Mirror’s Edge Movies
Looking at Kotaku today I found two new gameplay videos for Mirror’s Edge. The videos were sent to Kotaku after meeting with one of the developers the day before. I feel that if you want to see the videos that you should go over to their website to see it since they took the time to get the videos for us.
If you don’t know what Mirror’s Edge is you are kind of in the same boat as I am. Looking at the movies I see a very cool running first person experience spanning multiple pathways over buildings and through alleyways. You get guns in the game but they don’t seem to be a main focus. The focus is on the intense action as you are vaulting over building and dodging helicopters. Check out the videos. Oh yeah, the game is made by Dice the people who make Battlefield and a earlier talk with them revealed that they are considering putting action like this into future Battlefield games.

More Brawl Videos
Okay, I’ve had some kind of obsession with finding Smash Bros. Brawl videos in the last two weeks so I want to share what I’ve found that was remotely amusing.
The first video is animated and was done by a group of flash artists that I found on youtube. The video is called NiN10Doh! <– please tell me that you can read what that says…its not that hard to figure out. Its a funny video. I can tell these guys are big Nintendo fans by the fact that they included several games from tons of systems including Earthbound from SNES and characters from Captain N the game Master. Anyways, my favorite parts include Captain Falcon singing and the Earthbound scene. Oh yeah, this whole game sums up in 4 seperate segments the entire plot of Animal Crossing and why I hate it.
This second video is live action and was made before Brawl came out. It is extremely ridiculous and has very high pitched quotes like “I heard you could play as Peter Pan” and “I got a chili cheese dog, that says I’m awesome and fast”. Its good for a laugh but does not compare to the work put into ThereWillBeBrawl. The tetris pieces’ laugh is so annoying its hilarious and the many references to what tails looks like is awesome.

Red Alert 3 Trailer Talent Remix
Okay, here is a video i found a week or two back that I really like for the upcoming game Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3 for the PC on October 28th, the 360 on November 12th and sometime early next year for PS3. Sorry PS3 buddy. I have been a fan since the first Red Alert game came out over a decade ago now and I love the series. The game now features battle bears and armored dolphins as you will hear in the video (which is awesome, the video and military animals I mean).
The video is a kind of dance/trailer/remix/awesome look at the cast of the game along with some in game videos and some cutscenes also. There are TONS of famous people in this game. One of the cool new features also in this game is the new co-op campaign option (FINALLY!). Enjoy the video and definitely check this game out on your respective system when its available.

Halo Wars – The Back Story
According to the video just released the back story to Halo Wars sets the game twenty years before the original halo game with a human military fleet heading toward the planet Harvest to reclaim it. There are still a lot of Covenant there and they are excavating a ‘relic’ out of the ice. The person in charge orders a backup crew to help the already stationed troops on Harvest to take over the area where the Covenant are excavating.
The game looks really nice. These cutscenes are very well done. Couple this CG trailer with the nice lookin’ gameplay and I think we might actually have a decent Halo RTS. We’ll see how it stacks up when I see/play Starcraft 2 in a week.
Here is the video for it. Its called ‘Field Trip to Harvest’

Punch Out on WiiWare
Today Nintendo announced that the beloved franchise of the Arcade, NES and SNES, Punch Out, will be coming to WiiWare! This game looks freaking awesome. This new rendition of Punch Out is currently being developed by Next Level Games, the folks who brought you Mario Strikers & Mario Strikers Charged. The only disappointing news coming out of Nintendo’s conference is that gamers all over the world will have to wait till an unspecified date, 2009 for their chance to slug it out as Little Mac once again. Check out the first trailer below.

Sh!t of the Week! Yeah!
*** Every Thursday, Shit of the Week takes a look at the weeks worst piece of dog crap to be released on video game shelves. ***

|
It’s time for another edition of Shit of the Week! A Retail Gamers’ rejoice and celebration for games that are so awesomely crappy their terribleness gets idolized in all of their Shi-tay glory! Selecting this week’s pile of dump was tough for Frank Johnson. Upon immediate waft of this week’s shitty selection Frank Johnson was going to choose Pop Cutie: Street Fashion Simulator. Seems like an appropriate choice, right? WRONG! As Frank Johnson investigated this Pop Cutie and it’s supposed street fashion simulating Frank Johnson was faced with a devastating fact: This game sounds kind of rad. COME ON! Here, listen to this!
“Pop Cutie! Street Fashion Simulation is a game where players manage the day-to-day happenings of their very own fashion boutique. They’ll hire models and assistants, choose the look and music for their shop, run the cash register and even place magazine ads. Best of all, they’ll take to the streets and meet different characters in search of up-and-coming trends. Players will then use this inspiration in their studios where they’ll create new clothes, accessories and even hairstyles. However, other shop owners are also prowling the streets looking for the next big thing.”
What? That doesn’t sound completely awesome?… Oh yea, that sounds pretty weak. Ok, ok… Well here!
Players will start the game as an independent designer with a small shop at a flea market. As players progress, they’ll move into larger boutiques. The competition against rival shop owners culminates in a ‘Fashion Battle,’ where a panel of judges will decide if a player’s style has enough cute or enough cool to become all the rage.
By gathering ‘images’ from people on the street and combining them, players will create clothing lines ranging from the conventional to the most outrageous trends from the streets of Tokyo. A simple touch interface allows players to consider color and shape combinations on the bottom screen while reviewing the actual design on the upper screen. Using Nintendo DS Multi-Card Wireless Play, up to two friends can challenge each other in fabulous Fashion Battles.”
WHAM!? Right!?….. Right? Wait, never mind….. This game sounds pretty terrible! Dammit…. Well, the other game Frank Johnson was going to nominate as the Shit of the Week is Princess Debut. Now, we can’t have a tie, that just won’t do! Princess Debut sounds pretty fucking terrible in its own right. You are some slut bag princess who has to stop being a whore for awhile and learn how to dance to try to seduce one of six princes. ONE OF SIX?! DAAAAMMMNNN BITCH! The gameplay mostly consists of what looks like Elite Beat Agents’ touch screen controls just for the violently retarded. It boasts features like:
“Princess Debut offers four modes of play including Story, Ballroom, Practice, and Movie. With 20 outfits to find, 14 unique endings to experience, and 18 different kinds of music and dance styles to choose from (including Waltz, Latin dance, Tango, Ballroom, and much more), there’s no shortage of things to see and do!”
Practice? MOVIE?! 14 endings?!?! Get the fuck out of here! SPOILER ALERT!! Here a couple of the endings:
- Your princess is a whore banging all 6 princes
- You marry one of the princes just to find out not only does he enjoy ballroom dancing, but also domestic violence! Horray!
- Your princess is a hooker-whore, banging all 6 princes but at a fair price…. after waltzing
- And Frank Johnson’s favorite ending to this game: This game sucks. You just got jacked for $29.99.
Let’s put it this way; if you were stranded on desert island (not to be confused with a dessert island) and you had one of two choices for your DS, Princess Debut or Pop Cutie….. Which would it be? To be honest, at that point, faced with that decision…. the best thing you can do is prey for death.

Pre Order Now: Dead Space

*** Every Wednesday, Pre-Order Now takes a look at the top game that deserves your $5.00! Whether they be epic or super weird we tell you why you need it. ***
The game Dead Space for the PC, 360 and PS3 is one of those games that flew under my radar for quite a while recently while I have been too excited waiting for Fable 2 and Gears 2. That has now changed. This is one of the most impressive looking games I have seen in a long time and I can’t believe I didn’t pay more attention to it sooner. When the title says pre order now…it means it because this game comes out for the 360 and PS3 and ships on October 14th while the PC will see it on the 20th.
Why is the game worth pre ordering for the 360 and PS3? Just announced by EA that for the first two weeks the game is out you will be able to download, for free, a console specific suit for the system that you purchased the game on. The PS3 will feature a blue and black suit while the 360 will feature a kind of off white and yellow suit (don’t worry, a picture is below). The black one is called the obsidian suit while the white is called the elite suit. These suits will be made available to users via the Xbox Marketplace and the Playstation Network. What makes the suits worth getting? Besides a new look the suits will offer increased toughness and an expanded inventory in the game. Not bad for free.
The game itself is a survival horror shooter that takes place in deep space where you play as an engineer working on a space vessel where something ‘unexpected’ happens and you wake up swarmed by very creepy creatures. To me and my co-workers the game looks like either Doom or Bioshock but having talked to a few who have played this game it plays more like Gears of War favoring a duck-and-cover system to help you out.
I highly recommend the game and if you want these awesome suits you should spend a few bucks here in the next couple days to pre order the game to make sure you get it in time before they’ve been taken off for download. Remember, you only have two weeks to get them. Working in game retail myself you can see a game disappear day one from people coming off the street (not bums but they would like the game too) and picking up all the spare copies of this game then sometimes not seeing the game be restocked for up to a week. Having the game pre ordered as always secures you a copy of it and makes you not worry about acquiring the game when released.
A video for your viewing pleasure featuring gameplay using what looks like one of the more powerful weapons in the game.

World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King Hunter Changes

The World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King expansion is going to add loads of new improvements and changes to all things Warcraft. Some of the biggest and most anticipated changes are the class specific changes, things like talents, spells and abilities.
The Hunter is a class that is very dependent on there pet. They’re also one of the single best solo classes in the game because of this. Its basically like having two people instead of just one, or more like 1.5, anyways they are killer solo’rs.
With Wrath of the Lich King, the Hunter will see its changes, but more importantly there pets are going to be getting huge overhauls which is something that has been long desired. The pets are getting more diverse, and more importantly they get specific abilities that will make some people want some pets over another.
Bigredkitty is a huge WoW player but more importantly he puts out weekly vids of awesome new details from wrath concerning Hunters. Now to me this is pretty damn amazing, the Gorilla pet is basically becoming a AoE (Area of Effect=Damage that hits multiple targets.) tank, in a very big way.
The two videos below show off the Gorilla in action. It almost seems to good to be true, or maybe over powered? If your a WoW player this is most definitely a must see. If you used to play WoW then this is still worth taking a look at and if you have know clue about anything WoW, well then it might be worth watching. . .just watch it!
The following movie shows the Gorilladin in action:
This movie only confirms how amazing this new Gorilladin pet can be, another must watch:

Megaman 9 XBLA now!
Megaman 9 should be out for the Xbox Live Arcade now (being October 1st) and is already out on the Wii for download and on the PS3 network. Who cares how much it is, it will be good. The other writers for this site have played it on the Wii and love it. You will too. Cool, end of discussion.

Dragonball the Movie….The Game….
So…if you haven’t heard that there is a live action version of Dragonball being made by Fox then…I’m sorry I’ve ruined your day now. I myself am a fan of the old show but after seeing screenshots of the movie I’m kinda scared. Scared because I’m still going to go see it cause I’m a fan..but that it’s going to be bad.
Anyways, Fox is pondering the idea of making a videogame out of this new movie. I have some words of advice for them if they decide to pursue this idea. STOP IT! Somebody slap their hand please.
Here is the official site for the movie for anyone interested. Chi Chi, Goku’s wife doesn’t look bad. All the male actors are terrible looking compared to their anime counterparts.

*update- A bootleg trailer has been released for the movie. I’m going to wait for an official Trailer to hit but check out the bootleg at Kotaku
